Building a reading corner that gets used
Most reading nooks fail for the same reason: they are beautiful and uncomfortable. Here is what actually keeps you sitting.
A reading corner is a chair, a light, and somewhere to put a cup down. Everything else is decoration, and decoration is what usually pushes the cup off the arm of the chair.
Put the light behind your shoulder rather than overhead. Overhead light flattens the page and throws your own shadow onto it.
Keep the shelf within reach of the seat. If finishing one book means standing up to find the next, you will find your phone instead.
